Ciutadella the old capital of the island has received the classification of 'conjunto histórico artístico' due to its historical and artistic importance and the number of monuments.
Walking through the old part of the town we can find:
The picturesque port, the islands only Cathedral which was built in 1362 in Catalan Gothic style, Ses Voltes a street which is formed by many old arches where all sorts of shops can be found, the Sa Font Bastion (nowadays a museum), the market square, the Borne Square surrounded by many of the houses once lived in by the nobles families of Ciutadella and which offers magnificent views of the harbour from part of the still to be seen old city wall which used to surround the town. The Town Hall building with its Byzantine style façade, and numerous noble palaces together form a charming and interesting sight.
The Hotel Sagitario, Vista Playa Apartments and Sagitario Villas are situated between the beaches of Cala Blanca and Cala Santandria. |
